Load paths
Every building carries weight from the roof to the foundation. When a renovation removes a wall or adds an opening, that load has to go somewhere. We work out where before we start, so beams, posts and footings are sized for the job.
Hirad Construction Inc is a general contractor led by a civil and structural engineer. That background shapes how we plan, build and repair, on every project across Greater Vancouver.

Our owner’s training as a civil and structural engineer is the foundation of the company. It means the person responsible for your project understands not just how things are finished, but how they stand up.

Structural changes, new plumbing and electrical, suites and many retaining walls need permits in Vancouver and surrounding municipalities. We identify what your project needs up front and handle the applications and inspections.
The BC Building Code and local bylaws exist to keep people safe. We build to them as a matter of course, which also protects you when you sell, insure or refinance your home.
British Columbia’s coast is earthquake country, and many older homes predate modern seismic provisions. On structural work we pay attention to connections, bracing and foundations that help a building resist earthquake forces.
From our base on Oak Street in Vancouver we serve homeowners and businesses in Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, Surrey, New Westminster, Delta and Port Coquitlam. We know the region’s wet climate, its hillside lots and its older housing stock, and we plan our work around them.
