Our process

  1. Site visit

    We look at slope, soil, drainage and how you want to use the space.

  2. Design and estimate

    You receive a layout and written estimate, with structural requirements identified up front.

  3. Permits and preparation

    Where walls or structures need permits or engineering, we arrange them before work starts.

  4. Construction

    Excavation, drainage, base preparation, walls and hardscaping, built in the right order.

  5. Final walkthrough

    We review the finished work with you and leave the site clean.

Landscaping: frequently asked questions

Does my retaining wall need a permit or an engineer?

Often it depends on the wall’s height, what it supports and your municipality’s bylaws. Taller walls and walls supporting driveways, structures or slopes commonly require engineering and a permit. We check the requirements for your site before work begins.

Why do retaining walls fail?

The most common causes are poor drainage, which lets water pressure build behind the wall, inadequate base preparation, and walls that are not designed for the soil and loads behind them. We address all three in construction.

Do you design the landscape as well as build it?

Yes. We can plan the layout with you, or build from a design you already have.
